Economist to Discuss Policies to Support
Sustainable Development

Princeton, N.J.--Herman Daly, senior research scholar at the
University of Maryland's School of Public Affairs will speak on
``Policies for Sustainable Development: Parting Recommendations to
the World Bank'' at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School
of Public and International Affairs on Tuesday, March 21, at 4:30
p.m. in Robertson Hall, Bowl 2.

Daly, a former senior economist in the Environment Department of
the World Bank, was a professor of economics at Louisiana State
University for 20 years. His interest in development, population,
resources, and the environment led him to write over 100 articles
in professional journals and four books, including _Toward
Community, the Environment, and a Sustainable Future and
Economics, Ecology, Ethics_. Daly has served on the board of
advisers of numerous environmental organizations, and is co-
founder and associate editor of the journal _Ecological
Economics_. He has been a research associate at Yale University,
a visiting fellow at the Australian National University, and a
Senior Fulbright Lecturer in Brazil.

His talk is being sponsored by the Woodrow Wilson School and New
Jersey Future.
