Media advisory: Workshop to highlight "organic and plastic" electronics research

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Princeton's Center for Photonics and Optoelectronic Materials will host a workshop Tuesday, May 28, featuring research into plastic and organic materials that could replace the conventional silicon components of many electronic devices and usher in a new generation of miniature, high-efficiency electronics.

The "Venture Workshop on Organic and Plastic Electronics" will feature talks geared toward investors by experts from academia, industry and government. It will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Computer Science building on Olden Avenue on the Princeton campus.

Among the speakers will be representatives of Universal Display Corporation, which is using discoveries made at Princeton to develop flat-panel and flexible displays. A representative of the research arm of the Department of Defense will speak on "Organic electronics: Addressing the Needs of the U.S. Special Forces." The U.S. military is funding Princeton research into materials for displays, lighting and solar power generation.
