McGreevey, Forbes, Krauthammer, Hochschild to speak at conference on Declaration of Independence

What: Conference on the Declaration of Independence

When: April 5 and 6

Where: Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall

Scholars, public officials and others will gather on campus Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6, to reflect upon and debate the ideals of the Declaration of Independence as they relate to the challenges facing America today.

New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey is scheduled to give the keynote address at noon Friday, April 5 while Steve Forbes, president and chief executive officer of Forbes Inc. and a former Presidential candidate, will speak at 6 p.m. Friday. Also scheduled to deliver major addresses are Jennifer Hochschild, professor of government at Harvard University, at 2 p.m. Saturday, and Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer, at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The conference will feature five panel discussions on issues such as ìEquality in the 21st Century,î ìRights of the Individualî and ìReligion and the Concept of Divinely Endowed Rights.î Distinguished scholars from across the United States will participate in the panels.
