Strikeout or homerun: Princeton symposium focuses on New Jersey sports

Princeton, N.J. -- Princeton University's annual Symposium on New Jersey Issues this year will target the social, economic and environmental ramifications of professional athletics with a program on "New Jersey and Sports: A Strikeout or Homerun?" The symposium will take place Friday, April 20 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Dodds Auditorium, Robertson Hall.

Featured presenters are Michael Danielson, Princeton professor of public affairs and author of Home Team: Professional Sports and the American Metropolis; James DiEleuterio Jr., president and chief executive officer of the New Jersey Sports Authority; Rick Brenner, general manager of the Trenton Thunder; Bob Prunetti, Mercer County executive; and several state legislators.

There is no charge for this program, but registration is required.

Sponsored by Princeton's Office of Community and State Affairs and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, the symposium focuses each year on topics of interest to New Jersey legislators. Organizers launched the program five years ago in celebration of the University's 250th anniversary and Princeton's historic connection to the state of New Jersey.

Register via e-mail at <hersh@princeton.edu> or fax at (609) 258-1294.
