Donald H. Rumsfeld was sworn in as the 21st Secretary of
Defense during a ceremony held at 6: 10 p.m. EST today,
January 20, 2001, in the Old Executive Office Building in
Washington, DC. ...
Mr. Rumsfeld was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1932. He
attended Princeton University on scholarship (AB,
1954), served in the U.S. Navy (1954-57) as a Naval aviator
and was an All Navy Wrestling Champion. He was previously
the 13th Secretary of Defense, the youngest in our country's
history (1975-1977).
